Head of Business Development

 

The Opportunity:

Our client is a leading CDMO with a strong presence in the global market. For more than a decade, their innovative solutions have been at the forefront of Cell & Gene Therapy, and have earned a stellar reputation as a trusted resource for industry leading pharmaceutical and biotech’s on a global scale. This key leadership role will implement the overall business development strategy by directing and managing business development activities including sales, and marketing.

Position Summary:

The Head Business Development will partner with the Chief Commercial Officer to assess commercial opportunities, generate/cultivate prospective clients, understand prospective and existing client needs, and drive opportunities through contracting successful agreements.

Responsibilities:

    • Primary responsibility of this role it to evaluate and assess contract manufacturing opportunities with biopharma customers that are aligned to their CDMO capabilities and services
    • Lead the entire sales cycle from preparing proposals, establishing scope of partnership and negotiating contracts in close collaboration with internal stakeholders
    • Develop an in-depth understanding of the CDMO business model and capabilities to develop a strategic plan to achieve sales and customer goals, and be accountable for the business relationship strategy.
    • Develop a framework for the evaluation, prioritization, and execution for cellular therapy opportunities in the corporate pipeline
    • Responsible for efficient negotiation of all contractual matters for the company, including but not limited to complex partnership agreements, master service agreements, including pricing, payment terms, KPIs, SOPs, etc.

Requirements:

    • Strong experience in business development and business to business sales with in-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) and the overall life sciences industry
    • Comprehensive understanding of the gene and cell therapy market space, viral vector process development and manufacturing technologies, and the drug development regulatory environment, as well as a demonstrated ability to influence positive outcomes
    • Strong knowledge of oncology, drug development process, adoptive cell therapy manufacturing processes, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
    • Well versed in a variety of business development approaches that can be adapted for sales to startup biotech or established pharmaceutical companies
    • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills

Compensation Package:

The compensation for this position is dependent on experience with a base salary ranging from $220,000-$320,000 annually. Exceptional benefits, PTO, retirement plan, etc. commensurate with this level position.
